Communication is the key to successful international cooperation.
Intercultural Conflict Management
Diversity holds a great positive potential for innovation and creative problem solving. On the other hand, it can be the source of misunderstanding, prejudice, and conflict that in the end can be nerve-wracking for all involved parties.
What if conflicts arise? What do we do if a conflict endangers our international cooperation? Why does it arise and how can we prevent conflicts in international contexts?
Learning strategies for conflict resolution is helpful. However, not everybody perceives the open, direct, and task oriented communication as the ideal way of conflict resolution. Conflict resolution strategies are dependent on the cultural background. Which conflict resolution strategy is adequate in which cultural context? In order to approach conflicts in a culturally sensitive way, we should take a look at conflict management from a cultural viewpoint.
In this training module we will get to know different styles of conflict management in the intercultural context. Participants will reflect on their personal preferred conflict style and the conflict culture of their individual working environment.
The participants thereby have the opportunity to improve their intercultural communication skills in conflict situations and to test different approaches of conflict resolution.
